CRPF personnel kills self after shooting two colleagues at Pantha Chowk
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man shot himself dead after injuring two of his colleagues at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar on Saturday night.
A CRPF officer said that two CRPF men of 29 BN entered into a verbal dual over some “service and promotion issue” at their camp in Pantha Chowk.
“The incident happened at around 10 pm. Two CRPF men first had a serious argument after which one of them opened fire from his service riffle injuring two of his colleagues, including the one with whom he had the argument,” the officer, wishing not to be named told Greater Kashmir.
He said in the incident, two CRPF men sustained bullet injuries—one in his hand and another in his leg. “The CRPF man who opened fire later shot himself dead. He was identified as Mukesh Bhawuk and the one with whom he had the argument was Constable Ranjit Kumar Tiwari,” the officer said.
Confirming the incident, Inspector general of CRPF (Srinagar sector) Ravideep Singh Sahi confirmed the incident.
The IG CRPF said that he has ordered a departmental inquiry to find out the reason that led to the incident. “All angles will be investigated,” he said. Asked whether the two injured CRPF men were stable, he said: “Both received non-fatal injuries and are out of danger.”
