Five years, work on receiving station at Rawatpura is still in progress

Kupwara, Feb, 12, : In Rawatpura, Northern area of District Kupwara, a power station has been under construction for many years to make it functional. Hundreds of people from villages like Pura, Alusa, etc told this correspondent that the construction of a receiving station was started by the Department of Electricity in a village called Rawatpura five years ago, but even after many years, it has not been completed yet due to which dozens of villages have been deprived of better power supply said Showket Ahmad a local from the village.

A recieving station is installed at Trathpura Ramhal but due to the huge load at this receiving station, no area is fully getting supply of electricity during the scheduled hours. However, the irony is that five years have passed on even the said receiving station has not been completed, said Sarpanch of the area Zahoor Ahmed.
People of these areas have strongly demanded intervention from the LG and District Administration to take cognizance at an earlier.They said the receiving station constructed at Rawatpura should be Completed immediately, another student Shaiza said they are facing immense problems during night hours for there studies due to lack of power supply.
However some people claimed that construction of a receiving station at Tarthapura Ramhal was completed in time what sins have been committed by the people of Chokibal and many villages. We are being punished for unknown reasons said Mohammad Ramzan a resident of the area. While the area around Chokibal is being completely deprived of electricity supply for one day every week due to load shedding on village-by-village basis.
Meanwhile, people of the area have taken up the issue with the district administration and demanded that the receiving station should be completed in a time bound period, otherwise people of the area will be forced to come out on the streets to protest against the Electricity Department said an elderly woman Zeba and appealed the LG of UT of J&K to look into the matter immediately.
