“The first wealth is health” is rightly said by American Philospher Ralph Waldo Emerson in 1860. Mostly all the people know that “Health is Wealth”, but yet many people don’t clearly know the real essence of this proverb. Generally many people consider it as being free from any kind of illness, it is not that. But a person must be fit and fine both physically and mentally.if money is wealth, health is significant and more important wealth than money.

A healthy person can meet the problems and difficulties in life with ease and comfort. But a man lacking the proper health and healthy life style can not meet problems easily. The lack of proper health also hinders the personality building of a man. More healthier a person is, more happier his life will be. A healthy body can be defined as the ability and capability of a body to function very well and comfortably. Healthy body is a wealthy body when it is physically, mentally , socially, emotionally very fit and fine. “A healthy life is a key to happiness” A body that is not healthy might have the symptoms of stress and depression. A student can only study very well and efficiently if his/her heath and well being is good. A labour can only work efficiently, if his health is good. A proper health and healthy lifestyle will make all the people work with efficiency. The modern man can harness the new and latest technology in well planned and systemetic way with good health.
To stay healthy a person need not to do such things which are causes harm to him. Exercise , Yoga etc can play a vital role in making the body healthy. If a person takes junk food or cigrattes etc and doesn’t fall ill, it does not mean that he has a good health, rather he is just surviving. So to stay healthy , one needs to fullfill the basic essential requirements and necessities which can make a healthy life. A man need to do regular exercise, take proper and balanced diet , stay neat and clean, take proper rest and stay in quality environment. The merit of a healthy life is that a healthy person is happy, confident, energetic and well disciplined. A good health also develop personality of a human. According to WHO, ” Healthy living is a way of living that helps you enjoy more aspects of your life”
A person need to be well disciplined to maintain and follow the routine regarding the good health very properly. He must be consistent in good and healthy habits.Some of the important habits which could be helpful in having good health are:-
1. Exercise : Physical fitness very important for the healthy life. To be physically fit and fine a man must exercise regularly.
2. Stay Hydrated: A healthy body needs to be well hydrated. One should drink water to keep body hydrated.
3. Meditation and Yoga: Meditation and yoga also makes a person healthy. Eternal peace is the most important thing that keeps man glad. It reduces stress and depression. It also bring peace,stability and health to a person.
4. Balanced Diet: Balanced diet is very important for healthy life. Vegetables and fruits prove very helpful to stay healthy. The diet must also include supplements of high protien, vitamins and minerals. Junk food and harmfull items must be ignored.
5. Healthy Environment: The above four habits will be only beneficial and practicable if a person is in good and healthy environment. The unhealthy environment weakens the immunity.
6. Cleanliness: To maintain a healthy life, one should take a proper care of cleanliness. The environment and surronding must be neat and clean to stay healthy.
7 Proper Sleep: To function properly a body needs sufficient amount of sleep .One should have 6 to 7 hours of proper sleep daily. so sleep is also a vital component to live healthy life.
8 Early to bed and early to rise : The good schedule for sleeping and waking have a positive and progressive impact on the physical health and development of a person. Benjamin Franklin has rightly said ” Early to bed and early to rise , makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
The “World Health DAY ” is celebrated on 07 April every year , under the sponsorship of the World Heath Organisation ( WHO) as well as other related organisations. ” World Health Day” is celebrated every year to commemprate the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in 1948.The theme of World Health Day for year 2022 is “Our Planet Our Health”. It aims to focus attention on the over all well being of our planet and the people living on it. According to estimate of WHO, more than 13 million deaths around the world each year are due to avoidable environmental causes. This includes the Climate Crisis which is the single biggest health threat facing humanity.
The healthy population and environment is a sign of development for nations. because if the population is healthy, labour for the production of goods and services would also be healthy.
As the Greek Philospher Thales and the Roman Poet Juvenal both highlighted the importance of good health in a proverb, “A sound mind in a sound body”. Both mind and body of a person should be healthy and sound. So, the role of health is very essential for the human capital formation. Only a healthy person can work efficently, peacefully , calmly and with full potential. He can work in a productive way and can contribute very greatly for the development of a country.
The health department is developing and improving very well in our country. Many schemes are launched by the government of India for the well being of the people and for healthy life.. The schemes like Ayushman Bharat Scheme . Awam health Insurance Schemes are very helpful in making population our country healthy and developed. On the World Health Day , Our PM Narendra Modi drew attention to centre’s various schemes to augment India’s health infrastructure. He said,” The focus is on ensuring good quality and affordable healthcare to our citizens. Our focus on affordable health care has ensured significant savings for the poor and middle class. At the same time, we are strengthening our Ayush network to furthur boost overall wellness”. The key health schemes launched by Govt of india include:
1 Ayushman Bharat Scheme: Ayushman Bharat is a health protection scheme to provide health insurance to citizens. It provides insurance coverage of upto Rs. 5 lakh. It covers medicines , diagnostic expenses, medical treatment , and pre hospitalization costs.
2 Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana: It aims to provide accident insurance cover to the people of India. People in the age group of 18 years to 70 years who have account in a bank can avail bebefit from this schems.
3 Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana (AABY): It covers individuals from 18 to 59 years of age living in the rural areas. It also covers the landless citizens who are tenants living both in urban and rural areas. Upon a Natural death, the family is compensated at Rs. 30000. However, upon death caused by a permanent disability, the family is compensated at Rs. 75000.
4 Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS): This scheme provides comprehensive health care facilites for central government officials and pensioners residing in cities.
5 Employment State Insurance Scheme: It provides social security as ell as socio-economic protection to all workers in India.
6 Janshree Bima Yojana: It is designe for indiviuals in the poor category who are within the age group of 18-59 years. The schems includes special features like Women SHG Groups and Shiksha Sahyog Yojana. At present there are 45 occupational groups under this scheme.
7 Universal Health Insurance Scheme: This scheme was implemented to help the families who live below the poverty line. It covers the medical expenses of each and every memeber of the family. Once a family memeber is hospitalized, this scheme may facilitate the expenses of upto 30,000 rupees.
The benefit of Government Health Insurance Schemes is that these are offered at low price and the families below poverty line can also avail insurance benefits.The policy also includes treatment in both private and governmant hospitals for better healthcare.The integration of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) with the Aarogya Setu app by National Health Authority (NHA) is also positive and helpful for the well being of people of india.
“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”said Mahatma Gandhi. Money or gold can not buy health. Heath is the wealth we are born and even die with. Every thing is fine and has value only if health is good and if health is not good , nothing is fine and much valuable.
