Ramban, National Conference (NC) leader and District president Ramban Mr Sajjad Shaheen has said that National Conference is not a mere political party, but a movement with well-defined political agenda.
Shaheen was accompanied by DDC Chairperson , Ramban Dr Shamshada Shan and prominent functionaries of the party at Sumar.
Shaheen said “NC is a movement rather than a mere political party. A well-defined political agenda for a modern and model Jammu and Kashmir is its bulwark,” Shaheen said while addressing party workers and delegates in Sumar area of Banihal constituency.
“Workers of NC are epitome of sacrifice and selfless service who have withstood all challenges and proven their loyalty towards people, party and its leadership,” he said.
“Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah transferred ‘a peoples’ movement’ to us in the shape of NC and we have to nurture it in the same form,” he said.
The party’s objective has never been power but dignity and development of the state and people, he said.
“We do not deceive people by emotional blackmailing, slogans, falsehood, bias and creating hatred between various regions and sections of the society for votes,” Shaheen said.
“There have been conspiracies against us in the past and it still is continuing as political parties are being created in every nook and corner of the erstwhile State to divide us.
Asserting that National Conference (NC) is a deep rooted mass movement, Shaheen said NC has a firm standing in all 87 constituencies in the state.
While addressing the party workers Party DDC Chairperson Dr Shamshada Shan said NC has always stood on firm political and inclusive development programme and will continue to strengthen the ideology of peaceful, secular, democratic and unified Jammu and Kashmir.

She further said that”NC is the only party with credible footprints in all 87 Assembly constituencies of the state”, he said while addressing party workers at Sumar.
Taking a dig at political soothsayers, she said those patting their backs over standing in the state’s political sphere, will not find enough candidates to field from all constituencies.
Later a public Darbar was also held in Sumar where large number of people participated and put forth the demands faced by local people.
Later a public Darbar was conducted at Sumar to listen and speedily redress the public grievances of the folks living out there.
The darbar witnessed an overwhelming response wherein large number of people from local villages participated with their grievances, demands and issues of public importance.
The locals raised the issue of uninterrupted electricity , adequate water supply, up-gradation of school, establishment of PHC with adequate staff , veterinary unit, separate Horticulture and Agricultural units , and maintenance of play ground , replacement of electric poles ,construction of roads etc.
Responding to the demands of the people both leaders assured that all issues shall be redressed as soon as possible. While interacting with the general public, DDC Chairperson said that District Development Counsel Ramban has already embarked on the wagon of public outreach programmes with an unflinching commitment.
She expressed her desire that public should repose faith on us and avail the benefits of various flagship programmes which Government has put at the disposal of general Public.
